I’m Denise Balkissoon and I’m an information junkie. I love both paper and the internet dearly and equally and I want them both to flourish and thrive.
I’ve currently landed at the Toronto Star. Prior to that, I spent quite a long time providing freelance editorial for quality magazines, newspapers and websites. I’ve received two National Magazine Award nominations for my work with Toronto Life magazine. I’ve also written for Report on Business and the Globe and Mail, the Boston Globe, EnRoute and Chatelaine. I have PDFs, if you’d like to see them, and one day soon they should be downloadable here (but don’t hold your breath).
My areas of expertise include diversity and human rights, immigration and ethnicity, social (networking) trends, travel, food and style. Expect smart journalism, culture-savvy content and thoughtful editing done on deadline.
